Small bathroom Design with shower only
"Smooth river rocks look and feel great on the floor — they give you a little reflexology as you toddle around. But I'm trying to cut down on natural stone for sustainable reasons. I'm using a lot of CaesarStone or waterproof plaster in showers." -CLODAGH, DESIGNER
Bath: The Feel
"Touch is important. I designed a satiny smooth concrete tub for Dex that's really comfortable, like sitting in a spoon. I light a candle and get in with a good book — I've got a little spotlight that hits only the page. I check out. I meditate. I could live in my tub." -CLODAGH, DESIGNER
Shower: The Flow
"My family has been in the showering business for 108 years. Our new Raindance Imperial showerhead is 26 inches wide and built into the ceiling. It offers massive coverage but actually saves water: air gets sucked into the system at a three-to-one ratio with water, which gives you a thicker and more comfortable spray. The maximum flow allowed by law is 2.5 gallons a minute, but this feels like 3.5 gallons. We're getting some showerheads down to 1.5 gallons a minute, simply to help the planet." -NICOLAS GROHE, HANSGROHE
Bath: The Mood
"Ideally, I'd be bathing in a small lake with a waterfall on some exotic island. The idea is to find a similar harmony and emotion in the bathroom, with a door or window open to the outside. No light on the ceiling — too harsh. And lighter colors, because they provide more luminosity." -JEAN-MARIE MASSAUD, DESIGNER
Shower: The Space
"I like space and light and nature, the sense of showering inside a room instead of an enclosure. I bring my orchids in when they're blooming. And teak on the floor gives the room a warmer quality." -VICENTE WOLF, DESIGNER
